Actress and New York City native RUTHY OTERO returns to her roots and darkest fears with two special performances of her highly-acclaimed solo show, DANCING WITH MY DEMONS, as part of The One Festival on April 23rd & 27th at the 4th Street Theater.

DANCING WITH MY DEMONS is a 60-minute comedy that takes a look at the other F word: fear, and the painfully funny ways in which we move through it or let it to paralyze us. Facing her worst fear, the show opens as Otero finds herself in the middle of a recurring nightmare: in front of an audience without a script. Unable to wake herself up, she decides to take the audience through a hilarious tour of her nightmare & darkest demons using storytelling, physical comedy and Disco shoes.

Along the tour, you'll meet a diverse cast of characters, each of them dealing with a different facet of life's darkest fears: a Puerto Rican woman on trial for impersonating a white woman; the outraged subway passenger who's been sexually harassed; a shopper accused of being a lesbian in the dressing room and Yellowbird, the boxer who dukes it out with the Heavyweight Champ in the hopes of knocking Fear out "once and for all".

DANCING WITH MY DEMONS has earned Otero high praise from critics and audiences from NYC to LA, including being named one of Variety Magazine's 'Ten Comics to Watch' and called "a gifted physical comedienne" by NY Daily News. Otero is excited about returning to the Big Apple, adding "After performing the show in Los Angeles, and in a kick boxing ring in Thailand, it'll be great to bring it back home -- where everyone gets the inside jokes."

A Puerto Rican-American from the Bronx, Otero is an actress, solo performer, coach, comedy writer and world traveler. She got her start at the famed New York University/Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied with renowned acting teacher Stella Adler. Otero has successfully created and performed four solo shows and worked opposite Vin Diesel, Betty White and Danny Aiello. She has appeared in national commercials, voice-overs, TV, film, comedy clubs and colleges.

Currently, Otero can be seen online in her comedy Vlog series "The Self-Help Crack House," about a junkie who wants to stop abusing self-help books. Otero also conducts workshops (The ABCs of a One-Person Show) where she shares the tools that have helped her create an impressive body of solo performance work.
