Broadway Records announced today that the Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Liberty: A Monumental New Musical, will be released on CD and digitally on Tuesday, May 5th. It is now available for pre-order on the Broadway Records website at http://www.broadwayrecords.com/cds/liberty as well as on Amazon.com and other select retailers.

Abigail Shapiro, the 14-year-old actress seen in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, stars in the title role in Liberty: A Monumental New Musical. Abigail is also one half of the Shapiro Sisters who released their debut album, "Live Out Loud: Live at 54 BELOW" last fall. Shapiro is joined on the album by the rest of the Original Off-Broadway Cast: Emma Rosenthal (Off-Broadway: The Threepenny Opera, Night Games)as Emma Lazurus, Ben McHugh (Mamma Mia, tour of Hairspray) as Walker, Cheryl Stern (La Cage, The Women) as Moscowitz/Schuyler, Tom Souhrada (Mary Poppins, Evita) as McKay/Pulitzer, Ryan Duncan (Shrek, Altar Boyz) as Goodleaf, C. Mingo Long (Show Boat, South Pacific) as Samuel and Andrew DiTusa (A Little Princess, Freckleface Strawberry) as Giovanni. The Off-Broadway production was directed by Evan Pappas (7 Brides For 7 Brothers, Funny Girl), music directed by Jeffrey Lodin (The Sphinx Winx) and produced by Theresa Wozunk (The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess) and Timothy Harper.
Liberty: A Monumental New Musical, featuring a book and lyrics by Dana Leslie Goldstein with music by Jon Goldstein, tells the story of a beautiful French immigrant who arrives in New York Harbor in 1884. The powerful, sweeping new musical follows the statuesque immigrant's struggle, strife, and success in the ever-evolving country she's come to symbolize. Liberty: A Monumental New Musical was adapted from original material by Dana Leslie Goldstein, Jon Goldstein, and Robert Bruce McIntosh. The album of Liberty is produced by Michael J. Moritz, Jr.
