Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Last of the Red Hot Lovers on Friday, July 17 at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road. The show runs through Sunday, August 30, 2015.

This Neil Simon comedy tells the story of Barney Cashman, a middle-aged, married man who is determined to join the sexual revolution. With no experience in the world of adultery, Barney hilariously tries and fails to venture into the world of seduction with three separate women: a sexpot rebel, an over the top actress, and even his morally sound best friend's wife. The play first appeared on Broadway in 1969 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

Director, Steve Perigard, is well known in the Richmond area where his work has been seen on the stages of Virginia Rep, Cadence Theatre, Richmond Shakespeare, Firehouse Theatre, Theatre Virginia, SPARC, Theatre VCU, Randolph Macon College, and Collegiate School where he currently serves as the Upper School Director of Theatre. He last directed Steel Magnolias at Hanover Tavern. Other directing credits include Twelfth Night, Enchanted April, The Laramie Project, The Comedy of Errors and The Pillowman.

Virginia Rep is delighted to welcome Scott Wichmann back to the Richmond stage after a 12-month deployment in the Navy Reserves. Wichmann is a Richmond favorite, known for his comic energy and versatility. He recently starred in the one-man show, Say Goodnight Gracie (RTCC Award for Best Actor) at Hanover Tavern. Other Virginia Rep credits include Leo Bloom in The Producers (2013 RTCC nomination for Best Actor in a Musical), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Guys and Dolls, Fully Committed, and the one- man adaptation of It's a Wonderful Life.

Maggie Roop was last seen at Hanover Tavern in Steel Magnolias and in Hay Fever on the November Stage. Debra Wagoner most recently played the role of Sonia in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the November Theatre.
