THE WAY OFF BROADWAY DINNER THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS

FOR MEREDITH WILLSON’S THE MUSIC MAN

FREDERICK, MD – The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is preparing to welcome one of the most iconic musicals to the theatre when Meredith Willson’s The Music Man opens this fall. Auditions for the production will be held Monday, June 18th beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Way Off Broadway.

Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resume, as well as 16 bars of prepared music and be ready to sing, read from the script, and dance. No appointments are necessary. All roles are open and non-union paying. Specific casting notes, character descriptions, as well as rehearsal and performance information can be found at
www.wayoffbroadway.com. The ensemble includes roles for children 8 – 15.

Meredith Willson's The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

The Music Man has a book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson. Way Off Broadway’s production will run from September 7 – November 5, 2012 and will be directed by Bill Kiska, with choreography by Dee Buchanan and music direction by Jordan B. Stocksdale.
