CIVIC YOUTH COMPANY - South Bend Civic Theatre Non Equity Auditions

SBCT will hold auditions for the Fall session of CYC – Civic Youth Company! This company provides a vehicle for those students who are committed to studying the skills and techniques of theatre. These students are ready for advanced acting and performing theories and will study and explore theatre from the classics to modern theatre and from acting to musical theatre. Classroom training and performing opportunities are a part of this group. CYC will be by audition only or with the approval of the Director of Education.

Auditions for CYC will be held Wednesday September 26th and Thursday September 27th from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, please call 574-968-7496 to schedule an audition time. Auditionswill be at the Firehouse Theatre located at 701 N. Portage Avenue in South Bend.  Students who are currently in 6th thru 12th grades are eligible to audition.

All students need to prepare a 1 to 2 minute memorized monologue and 16 bars of a song from a Broadway Musical.  Prospective Company members need to bring their sheet music for the accompanist (we will provide an accompanist).  We want to encourage those students who do not feel they have a solo voice to audition. The Company is not a Musical Theatre program but there will be Master Classes during the year in developing your singing voice and basic dance for the stage.

The fall session 2012 will start Saturday evening October 6th and run for 6 weeks. Classes are two hours with the time being split between learning a specific skill (voice, movement, etc...) and scene work.
