The Arvada Center Announces Auditions for Blithe Spirit

The Arvada Center will hold auditions for Blithe Spirit at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., November 14 and 15; and in New York City, December 10, 2012.  Blithe Spirit will be directed by Arvada Center Artistic Producer Rod A. Lansberry.

Denver auditions are November 14 and 15, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., by appointment only. Call the Arvada Center at 720-898-7200 to schedule a time. Actors must be 18 years & older to audition.

Experienced actors with strong acting abilities are needed. See the character breakdown (on the following page) for specifics on available roles. For the Denver auditions and NYC EPA, Actors should prepare 2 - 3 minute monologue of the style and period of Noel Coward.  A current headshot and résumé are required. Equity members must have a current equity ID card.

This is an Equity LORT D production, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds including a wide range of physiques are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.

Rehearsals for Blithe Spirit begin on January 2, 2013. The show opens on January 22 and runs through February 17, 2013. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

ARVADA CENTER – Blithe Spirit Character Breakdown:

Ruth Condomine (female 35-45) A smart looking woman in her mid-thirties, Ruth is the wife of Charles. She is a bit jealous of Charles's relationship with his first wife.

Charles Condomine (male 35-45) In his forties, Charles is an intelligent and urbane English novelist. Charles is the husband of Ruth Condomine and deceased first wife, Elvira.

Elvira (female 30-40) Charles Condomine's deceased first wife, Elvira returns as a ghost with a goal. In the process, she makes Charles's and Ruth's lives very complicated.

Edith (female 25-50) The Condomine's maid, Edith is always in a hurry.

Dr. George Bradman (male 35-60) A pleasant-looking middle-aged man, Dr. Bradman is a friend of the Condomines.

Mrs. Violet Bradman (female 30-60) The wife of Dr. Bradman, Mrs. Bradman is middle-aged and a bit faded.

Madame Arcati (female 45-60) A middle-aged spiritualist, Madame Arcati is a striking woman. She is not too extravagant but has a definite bias toward the barbaric.
