BEDROOM FARCE
Setting: Three bedrooms in an English town in the late 1970’s.

Bedroom Farce is a comedy involving philandering characters, and with the clever use of time and space, this very intricate and sophisticated comedy also portrays the deteriorating and rebuilding of relationships among couples.

As the title implies, the play is an absurd and highly physical comedy that explores the differences in relationships between the younger and older generations while capitalizing on certain unlikely issues that may strain the relationships even further.

Trevor and Susannah, whose marriage is on the rocks, inflict their miseries on their nearest and dearest, three other couples whose own relationships are tenuous at best. Taking place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples' bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction, beds, tempers and domestic order are ruffled, leading all the players to a hilariously touching epiphany.

Although the play may seem to lead into a corner of despair and heartbreak, it substitutes the hard truths of certain relationships into relationships that may have a chance at survival.

BEDROOM FARCE -- CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

DELIA & ERNEST
A long-married couple preparing to go out to dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary. ERNEST is absent-minded, bumbling, loves his wife but constantly ignores her, as he obsesses about everything else. Although DELIA has been a long-suffering wife and a doting mother, she still loves to stir the pot, and gossip. They are parents to TREVOR.

TREVOR & SUSANNAH
A dysfunctional couple constantly fighting, sometimes physically. TREVOR is selfish, self-centered and completely oblivious to the havoc he wreaks on those around him, including his loved ones. But he seems to gain the sympathy and/or desire of women. SUSANNAH, a bit of a Flower Child, is neurotic and insecure yet practices self-assurance exercises when she’s alone. Trevor’s ex-girlfriend is JAN.

JAN & NICK
They have what appears to be a good marriage, even though JAN still harbors feelings for Trevor. NICK is laid up with a bad back and an even worse mood and spends most of the evening in bed or on the floor. When Jan goes to a party without Nick and encounters Trevor & Susannah, sparks fly in more ways than one, especially when Trevor shows up on their doorstep later that night! The party is hosted by MALCOLM & KATE.

MALCOLM & KATE
A newly married couple hosting a house-warming party at their new place. They are playful, spontaneous and very much in love, but not all may be as blissful as it seems. KATE, probably the most liberated of her friends, confesses moments of boredom in the bedroom, much to MALCOM’S dismay. Malcolm desperately tries to prove her wrong, as he also fancies himself a handyman around the house, although everything he works on falls apart … literally.
