SAN FRANCISCO (August 23, 2012) – Producer Jo Schuman Silver has announced major auditions for male and female singers for Beach Blanket Babylon, the world’s longest running musical revue.  Auditions for openings in January 2013 will be held Saturday, September 15 at 12 p.m. at Club Fugazi (678 Beach Blanket Babylon Boulevard) in San Francisco. Auditions are open to everyone. No appointment is necessary.                          

All auditioners should be prepared to sing one ballad and one up-tempo number (preferably rock or pop). An accompanist will be provided, but auditioners must bring their own sheet music (in their key) along with a current résumé and photo. Dance shoes are optional. Multiple roles are available; all are encouraged to audition. Beach Blanket Babylon offers competitive salary, full medical benefits (health, dental and chiropractic), as well as paid vacations and sick leave.

Interested performers who cannot attend the auditions can send a DVD of their best performance voice (no dancing or acting) via email to auditions@beachblanketbabylon.com, or they can mail a DVD to: SSPI, 470 Columbus Avenue #204, San Francisco, CA 94133. DVDs should be no longer than two minutes.  Those submitting video auditions may receive a call-back two weeks following the auditions.  

Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon is the longest running musical revue in theatre history. Hailed as “a constant cascade of showstoppers” by the San Francisco Chronicle, Beach Blanket Babylon follows Snow White as she takes a fast-paced journey around the world in search of her “Prince Charming.”  Along the way she encounters a star-studded, ever-changing line-up of hilarious pop-culture characters, including Lady Gaga, Michael Phelps, President Barack & Michelle Obama, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, The San Francisco Giants, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the Queen of England, Hilary & Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, The Cast of “Glee,” Nancy Pelosi, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Adele and Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes.  

Beach Blanket Babylon performs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 6:30 & 9:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2 & 5 p.m. at Club Fugazi in San Francisco.
