Meet Dog, a canine who absolutely loves reading. But does he have what it takes to be a bookstore owner? Join ArtsPower National Touring Theatre for "Dog Loves Books," the Louise Yates' New York Times best seller, coming to Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre Saturday, April 25 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Youngsters with a joy for reading - and animals! - will delight in ArtsPower's newest musical about the irresistible Dog who loves everything about books. It's his love for books that inspires Dog to open up his own bookstore. But once the store opens for business, no customers appear. Dog finds himself all alone in his shop with lots of time on his hands. So he begins to read the books on his shelves and when the customers finally start to come in, he knows exactly which books to recommend. ArtsPower celebrates the power of the reading and the satisfaction that comes from sharing a good book with others.
ArtsPower was founded in 1985 by brothers Gary and Mark Blackman and, in 1989, produced its first Actors' Equity musical theater production. Since then, the company has performed compelling shows for young people aged 6 to 15. ArtsPower has earned a national reputation for high-quality productions that seek to feed children's intellect, enhance the cultural life of their communities, and provide powerful examples of how to be compassionate and fair-minded members of society.
