The Los Angeles theatre community has lost one of its own.
BroadwayWorld has learned that actor Terrence Evans, known for his roles at Theatricum Botanicum and Theatre Palisades in LA, passed away on August 7, 2015 in Burbank, California. He was 81.
Terrence Evans was an American actor who has appeared in a number of stage, television and movie roles since 1977. He earned a BFA in Drama at Carnegie Melon and was an active member of SAG/AFTRA and AEA.
"Terrence was a consummate actor who was passionate about his art and about giving to others. He projected his strength and humanity into his character portrayals," his manager, Phil Brock of Studio Talent Group told Variety in a statement announcing Evans' death.
Evans played the title character in a one-man show entitled ABE LINCOLN and also appeared in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE, THE CRUCIBLE, BUS STOP, MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT, and THE SEA GULL, among others. He also portrayed LUTHER Billis in SOUTH PACIFIC at the Front St. Theatre.
Among his numerous screen roles, Evans appeared in both Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. His first appearance in Deep Space Nine was in the first season episode "Progress", in which he played the mute farmhand Baltrim. Later he appeared in the episode "Cardassians" as Proka Migdal, the adoptive father of a Cardassian boy. In 1991 appears in Terminator 2: Judgment Day in the role of the driver of the tanker that is killed by the T-1000. In 1997, Evans played Ambassador Treen on the Voyager episode Nemesis. He also played Leatherface's uncle Old Monty from 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as well as its prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. In addition, Evans appeared in "E.R.," "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "Days of Our Lives," "Little House on the Prairie," "The A Team" (TV Show), "Gun Smoke," and "Dukes of Hazard."
Evans is survied by his wife Heidi, as well as his two children, two stepchildren, and one grandchild.
