The Las Vegas Philharmonic was recently inducted into the Clark County School District's (CCSD) Excellence in Education Hall of Fame, recognizing the non-profit organization for their outstanding and impactful music education programs benefiting CCSD students through their annual Youth Concert Series. The program has been providing free concerts and companion classroom curriculum since the orchestra's inception in 1999.

President and CEO Jeri Crawford accepted the award on behalf of the organization at the Board of Trustees meeting on April 28.

For more than 17 years, the Las Vegas Philharmonic's Youth Concert Series has been one of the most impactful music education programs benefiting CCSD students. Every year more than 16,000 at-risk students receive a one-of-a-kind classical music experience by attending a Las Vegas Philharmonic concert. Additional opportunities for students to perform with the orchestra are also made possible through the Las Vegas Philharmonic Cox Communications Young Artists' Concerto Competition.

"The Youth Concert Series is one of the cornerstones of our commitment to community and music education and is a great source of pride and inspiration for all of us at the Las Vegas Philharmonic," says Jeri Crawford. "Our partnership with the Clark County School District has made it possible for us to reach students at a pivotal age when music can ignite their imagination and interest. We've had the good fortune of seeing some of those students who sat in the audience during the Youth Concerts go on to pursue music and become award-winning musicians. We are honored to be recognized for this outreach and impact on our community."

The Excellence in Education Hall of Fame is a long-running tradition, established in 1989 by the CCSD Board of School Trustees, with the purpose of recognizing extraordinary and lasting contributions to education. As tradition, the names of the honorees will be displayed in the foyer of the Edward A. Greer Education Center. This year the inductees will also be invited and recognized during the Heart of Education Awards celebration at The Smith Center on May 7th.

The Las Vegas Philharmonic, led by Music Director, Donato Cabrera, established its presence in Southern Nevada in 1998. The mission of the organization is to perform music that enriches and educates, helping to build a vibrant, culturally rich community. A proud resident company of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Las Vegas Philharmonic brings a valued cultural dimension to the city, providing over 16,000 children each year with vital access to a music education program and showcasing local talents alongside stellar nationally and internationally known guest artists on the magnificent Reynolds Hall stage. At the orchestra's core are 76 contracted professional musicians, many of whom are esteemed educators who also perform in other professional productions in Las Vegas, bringing depth and variety to the organization.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Philharmonic's community, education and artistic programs are made possible by the generous donations and support of individuals and corporations.
