ANNE AYLWOOD] Female, 40’s to 50’s, to play ages 50 and 100, any ethnicity/race. At 50, Mrs. Aylwood is a grieving widow and overly protective mother. At 100, she is spry and mysterious, with a cantankerous sense of humor, determined as ever to reunite with her long lost daughter. Vocal type/range: MEZZO-SOPRANO, legit with mixed belt capabilities. *Please note wider range E3-Ab5. [JAN CARSTAIRS/KAREN AYLWOOD] Female. Double role. 18+ to play 15, any ethnicity/race. Jan and Karen exist 50 years apart, but both have tragically lost their father, and are struggling to navigate their grief. Both are kind and courageous, but unsure of the way forward without their mother’s support. Vocal type/range: Mixed Pop Belt, some vocal embellishments/runs, ad lib abilities encouraged. *Please note wider vocal range F3- G5. [KATE CARSTAIRS/A GRANDMOTHER] Female. Double role. 40’s to 50’s, any ethnicity/race. Kate is a successful composer and mother to two daughters. She desperately wants to reconnect with her teenage daughter after a tragic family event, but battling her own doubt and grief makes it difficult to reach out. A Grandmother, 65, is an ailing woman, older than her years, nearing the end of her life. Vocal type/range: Mezzo-Soprano, F3-E5. [ELLIE CARSTAIRS/A GRAND-DAUGHTER] Female. Double role. 18+ to play 11, any ethnicity. Ellie is a bright 11 year old girl who wants nothing more than to help her mother and sister remember how happy they used to be. Tender, sweet and annoying as only little sisters can be. A Granddaughter, 11, the granddaughter of an old woman nearing the end of her life. Vocal type/range: Pop Soprano, C4-D5. [MARK FLEMING/MARCUS FLEMING/A GRANDSON] Male. Triple role. 18+ to play 16, any ethnicity. Equal parts charming and goofy, Mark Fleming is a charismatic influence in Jan’s quest for the truth. He is funny, calming and endearing. Marcus Fleming, Mark’s grandfather, also 16. More serious, but also sweetly endearing. A Grandson, 16, the grandson of an old woman nearing the end of her life. Guitar skills preferred. Vocal type/range: Pop Tenor, B2-A4. If possible, please accompany yourself on the guitar. [MRS. SAUNDRA FLEMING/MRS. THAYER/A DAUGHTER] Female. Triple Role. 40’s to play 45, 50’s & 65, any ethnicity. Mrs. Saundra Fleming is Mark’s grandmother, 65. She is losing her memory bit by bit, but determined to hang onto what’s left. She has a wicked sense of humor combined with a no nonsense sensibility. Mrs. Thayer, 50’s, is a chatty real estate agent, determined, at any cost, to sell the Aylwood House, along with the difficult notion of change. A Daughter, 45, the daughter of an old woman nearing the end of her life. Vocal range: Alto, F3-D5. [SAUNDRA THOMPSON] Female. 18+ to play 15, any ethnicity. Saundra Thompson is Mrs. Saundra Fleming at age 15. She is Karen’s best friend, and she is in love with Marcus Fleming. Vocal type/range: Mezzo Soprano A3-D5.
