Videographer - Milwaukee Repertory Theater

POSITION SUMMARY

The Videographer is someone who loves crafting stories through the medium of film. Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, we are looking to add a team member to execute, sustain and grow our original content all through the lens of our brand which is critical to our voice and aesthetic across multiple platforms. In addition to creating marketing pieces for the theater season, this highly creative position will also play a key role in welcoming patrons to the new Associated Bank Theater Center, housing Milwaukee Rep’s performance venues, which is slated for a grand opening in late 2025. A variety of new video projects will help promote the Theater Center as well as visual content in the lobby spaces.

The position requires strong video technical skills, high-level communication and organizational expertise. The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate with artists, freelancers and staff members, run a video shoot as a camera operator, handle postproduction editing, finishing and distribution to various platforms and cover general administrative and departmental duties.

Day-to-day work includes producing narrative trailers for upcoming productions, creating short-form promos for theatrical programming or institutional initiatives, capturing audience testimonials for productions, occasional marketing event photography, operating video cameras, editing video content from import to color grade and distribution.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Stage, build and operate digital cinema cameras

• Build lighting scenarios for narrative and documentary

• Experience with line producing in a video environment

• Handle complex editing projects with short deadlines

• Digital content management and archiving

• Attending all department meetings as requested

• Photo and video posting to web CMS and social media platforms

• Hire, create and manage work plans for interns as desired/needed

• Assist Director of Marketing with projects as assigned

Successful candidates will:

• Have some theater background or knowledge

• Work collaboratively as part of the marketing team, incorporating notes and

feedback that reflect Milwaukee Rep brand standards

• Work well under pressure

• Be able to work with multiple departments as well as outside

vendors/freelancers/agencies

• Be able to work independently

• Be able to manage multiple projects while thinking ahead to what’s next

• Comfortable working in front of the camera hosting video series and conducting

interviews.

• Ability to work flexible hours. Videotaping and other recording/activities requires

weekend and evening work

• Be physically able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted. This position semi-

frequently lifts, carries and moves video equipment

• Access to a car for off-site video shoot

Candidates will have a successful track record of experience producing/shooting and editing multimedia/video content in a fast paced, multi-project deadline environment that demonstrates their ability to perform the duties and responsibilities required of the position or the equivalent of a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience along with:

• Experience shooting live performance videos

• Advanced knowledge in the following areas: video production, multimedia

content, digital distribution

• Advanced knowledge of video editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite,

including Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop

• Experience with DSLR and HD cameras, audio recorders, lighting for video and

Mac Computers. Experience with Black Magic Pocket Cinema Cameras a plus

• Proficiency in narrative construction and visual storytelling

Salary: $48,000 - $52,000 annually
