    HELEN STENBORG AND MALCOLM GETS SET FOR OFF-BROADWAY'S 'VIGIL'

    The New York Times is reporting that Malcolm Gets and Helen Stenborg will star in the dark comedy Vigil at the DR 2 Theatre, September 20th through November 22nd.


    VIGIL, STARRING STENBORG AND GETS, PLAYS OFF-BROADWAY'S DR2 THEATRE

    Producers Angelo Fraboni and Daryl Roth have announced that the New York premiere of Vigil, written by Morris Panych and directed by Stephen DiMenna, will begin performances Sunday, September 20, at 3pm at the DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15 Street, east of Union Square. The opening is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm.

    Slant Theatre Project will produce MINE, a new play by Bekah Brunstetter, at the Sanford Meisner Theatre, November 12 - 22, 2009.     ubbling Brown Sugar is a musical revue written by Loften Mitchell based on a concept by Rosetta LeNoire and featuring the music of numerous African-American artists who were popular during this period, including Duke Ellington, Eubie Blake, Count Basie, Cab Calloway and Fats Waller. It was nominated for the Tony Award as, "Best Musical." The revue is scheduled through Nov. 22 at Broward Stage Door Theatre, 8036 W. Sample Road, Coral Springs.


    FLORA THE RED MENACE PLAYS THE RISING ACTION THEATRE

    Flora the Red Menace will run from now until November 22 at The Rising Action Theatre in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Flora the Red Menace is a musical with a book by David Thompson, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The musical starred Liza Minnelli in the title role in her Broadway debut, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. This was the first collaboration between Kander and Ebb, who later wrote Broadway and Hollywood hits such as Cabaret and Chicago.

    MICHAEL URIE TO STAR IN READING OF BRIAN SLOAN'S WTC VIEW 11/22 AT PLAYER'S THEATRE

    Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty", "The Tempermentals") is headlining a reading of Brian Sloan's "WTC View" on November 22nd at the historic Player's Theatre in Greenwich Village. The play was originally staged as part of the 2003 NY Intl. Fringe Festival , with Urie originating the lead role. It was adapted into a 2006 film, directed by Sloan, a New York-based writer/filmmaker ("Boys Life", "I Think I Do"). Now, the play is back on stage with its eye on a 2011 production in New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

    FLORA THE RED MENACE PLAYS THE RISING ACTION THEATRE

    Flora the Red Menace will run from now until November 22 at The Rising Action Theatre in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Flora the Red Menace is a musical with a book by David Thompson, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The musical starred Liza Minnelli in the title role in her Broadway debut, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. This was the first collaboration between Kander and Ebb, who later wrote Broadway and Hollywood hits such as Cabaret and Chicago.
