Preparation 32 bars of two contemporary musicals, one ballad and one up-tempo. Sheet music is required in the proper key. Accompanist provided. Be prepared to show vocal range. Please bring headshot and resume.

Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their friends Susan and Heidi. Eventually, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. [title of show], taken from the space on the festival's application form which asks for the [title of show], follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression, learning lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists. [title of show] is, above all, a love letter to the musical theatre and the joy of collaboration. CHARACTERS Jeff - A composer/lyricist. New Yorker. Loves all things Broadway. Joyful and Dreamy. Funny, quick, and smart. Mid-20s to 40. Should have vocal range up to B (above middle C) Hunter - A book writer. New Yorker. Mid-20s to 40. Goofy and joyful. Excited to try something new, but insecure.Should have vocal range up to B (above middle C) Susan - Their actor friend. New Yorker. Mid-20s to 40. Office Manager by day, venturing in and out of the theatre world. Downtown edge. Smart-ass sensibility. Street sense with a dash of hopefulness.Vocal range to include F (below middle C) to high G.
