SEEKING:

Scribonius:

Male. 50- Early 60s. A Roman playwright in the year 59AD. Can be any ethnicity. Has vitality, physical presence and agility. Comfortable with his sexuality. He also must possess gravitas enough to justify his out-of-fashion Tragedian circumstances. Good with comic farce. Exudes decency, likeability, and serious purpose as counterpoint to Nero. He carries the play's intellectual and emotional center. A great sense of wit, but also good taste and instinct. Lots of direct address. Classical background very helpful. Needs a terrific voice and rhetorical skill, therefore must have excellent language skills.

Seneca:

Male 60s- 70s. Older statesman. Stoic. Represents a moral imperative. Must have a lot of maturity as a performer -- and intellectual sureness in addition to the good sense of the comedy. Plays additional characters.

Burrus:

Male. 60s- 70s: A comic counterpart to Seneca. His physicality is extreme. Could be roly-poly or tall and skinny. Great with physical comedy. Plays additional characters.
