Please prepare a monologue of up to two minutes, preferably one that shows verbal facility.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back (do not e-mail materials).

Evening of four one-act plays: The Wreck on the 5:52, Bernice, In Shakespeare and The Bible, and Cement Hands.

Seeking (Notwithstanding the proximity of auditions to 1st rehearsal, Theatre states all roles are available):

Note: Each actor will appear in three of the four plays. All characters are relatively sympathetic, even as they misbehave, and the plays have a generous view of human failings reflected in each character’s flaws. These are sinners, but not “villains”.

Male 1:

Track age: 50s. Actor plays a disgraced businessman returning from prison, a hearty car salesman, and a whimsical uncle to a young woman marrying well.

Male 2:

Track age: 40s. Actor plays an efficient lawyer, a husband troubled by changes in his life, and a perfect waiter.

Male 3:

Track age: 20s. Actor plays an irate cab-driver, a young lawyer hoping to marry and put his past behind him, and a wealthy young man who finds it hard to give money away.

Female 1:

Track age: Late teens-20s. Actress plays a suburban teenager, a naïve young woman whose family has secrets she’d rather not know about, and the young fiancée of a wealthy man who gets a glimpse of her future life.

Female 2:

Track age: 40s-50s. Actress plays an efficient and straightforward housekeeper, a suburban wife worried about her husband’s behavior, and a grand, outspoken former madam who wants to get back into “good society”.
