Seeking:

Damon Robinson:

AVAILABLE ROLE (i.e. not yet offered and accepted). African American man, 30s. Prisoner on Death Row; somehow survives lethal injection on the day he is to be executed. Smart, strong-willed and devoted to those he cares for, he’s brought to a boiling point with individuals he does not respect; his reputation in prison is that of a trouble-maker. Regrets his past and tries to make amends by writing letters to his family -- letters which, unfortunately, his father promptly sends back unopened.

Chantel Robinson:

AVAILABLE ROLE (i.e. not yet offered and accepted). African American woman, 20s. Damon’s younger sister; the one member of the family who keeps in touch with him. Single mother with three kids (one of them needing medical care); struggling to make ends meet. In an effort to get some financial aid for her current predicament, she visits Damon in prison and tries to persuade him to give up the letters he’s written, so that she can hand them over to a writer who’s interested in writing a book about Damon’s miraculous survival.

Cooper:

AVAILABLE ROLE (i.e. not yet offered and accepted). Role added to notice on 10.14.10. Latino or Caucasian man, 30ish. Corrections officer. Powerfully built. He's tough and knows the prison like the back of his hand. Doesn’t speak often, but is a constant presence, watching over the inmates of the prison.

James (Roach) Teagle:

CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. Caucasian man, 40s-50s. Prisoner on Death Row. Lives next door to Damon. Got his nickname for collecting roaches and keeping them as pets. Spends his days reminiscing about happier days spent fishing with his father. Completely depends on Damon for conversation and friendship, and would be lost without him. Uneducated. Southern. Somewhat childlike. There’s something definitely off about him.

Adrian Crouse:

CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary. Caucasian man, mid 30s-40. Prison chaplain. New to the job, he establishes a bond with Damon through their mutual love of sports. Stoic, conscientious and highly empathetic, he attempts to convince Damon that a higher power had something to do with his surviving the lethal injection.
