Prepare a brief monologue, or a brief song, or a one-minute monologue with 16 bars of a song. Have a contrasting piece ready in case asked. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

GOD OF CARNAGE

BLACK PEARL SINGS

Imprisoned for murder, Pearl is the living storehouse of dozens of spirituals and folk songs passed down from her African-American ancestors. When a Library of Congress song collector finds her, Pearl must decide whether to entrust the woman not only with the songs of her ancestors, but with her chance at freedom. Pearl’s stirring acapella songs touch the soul, as will the story of two strangers united by a common love.
