Prepare 32 bars of a song; have a contrasting selection ready if asked. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist provided. Be prepared to dance. Sides will also be provided at the audition. Visually-impaired performers may request an advance copy of the sides when making an audition appointment.

THE FANTASTICKS

Music: Harvey Schmidt, Book & Lyrics: Tom Jones.

1st rehearsal: 11/22/10.

Runs 12/2 – 12/4 and 12/9 – 12/11 at 8pm, 12/5 & 12/12 at 2pm and 7:30pm.

Four Equity actor contracts available.

Two fathers decide that they want their children to fall in love. The girl, Luisa, is a daydreamer with an active imagination. The boy, Matt, is a romantic. The two fathers decide to instigate a mock feud amongst themselves in order to help the boy and girl fall in love. They figure that this feud will give them the excuse to say no to the relationship, which of course will simply encourage the children’s love even more.

El Gallo: 30 – 50. Narrator, actractive & worldly. Baritone.

Matt: 21 – 29. Young romantic. Baritone.

Luisa: 21 – 29. Young daydreamer with an active imagination. Soprano.

Bellomy: 40 - 60. Luisa’s father, fussy, sensative. Baritone.

Hucklebee: 40 - 60. Matt’s father, brash. Baritone.

Henry: 50 - 70. Old Shakespearean actor. Spoken.

Mortimer: 30 - 60. Henry’s sidekick. His specialty is death scenes. Spoken.

The mute: 25 - 40. Graceful, animated. Mute.

NO, NO, NANETTE

No, No Nanette had a huge revival in 1971, which started a nostalgia craze on Broadway. It is a show that takes us back to the roaring twenties for some good, clean, tap dancing fun. Enjoy the singing and dancing of such classic hit songs as Tea For Two, I Want To Be Happy and Too Many Rings Around Rosie. No wonder all the critics acclaimed this The Happiest Show in Town.

Jimmy Smith: 50 – 65. A warm, loveable New York bible publisher who has become wealthy due to his business. He cannot resist helping distressed women. Baritone.

Sue Smith: 45 – 65. Jimmy’s loyal and frugal wife. Mezzo.

Nanette: 21 - 29. Jimmy and Sue’s niece and adopted child. Independent and full of dreams and hopes. Tap Dancer. Soprano.

Billy Early 40 - 50. Friend and Lawyer to Jimmy and husband of Lucille. Tap Dancer. Baritone/Tenor.

Tom Trainor: 21 – 35. Billy’s assistant. He is strait –laced, possessive and in love with Nanette. Tap Dancer. Tenor.

Flora: 21 – 40. Tall, buxom, greedy bombshell who receives money from Jimmy.

Winnie: 21 – 35. Pretty, greedy ambitious woman who receives money from Jimmy. Tap Dancer.

Betty: 21 – 35. Pretty, greedy ambitious woman who receive s money from Jimmy. Tap Dancer.

Lucille Early: This role has already been cast.

Two female chorus: 21 – 29. Nannette’s friends, sing and tap dance.

BLOOD BROTHERS

Book, Music & Lyrics: Willy Russell.

1st rehearsal: 2/28/11.

Runs 3/10 – 3/12 and 3/17 – 3/19 at 8pm, 3/13 and 3/20 at 2pm at 7:30pm.

Six Equity actor contracts available. Liverpool accents a must. Actors have to play ages 7–21.

Set in Liverpool, Blood Brothers tells the story of fraternal twins who are separated at birth. One brother is raised in a family of great privilege and one brother is raised in poverty. Even with their different socioeconomic backgrounds, the two boys end up becoming best friends until a misunderstanding leads to a tragic ending.

Mickey: 21 – 35. Twin brother of Eddie, raised in poverty. Pop/Rock Tenor.

Eddie: 21 – 35. Twin brother of Mickey, raised with privilege. Pop/Rock Tenor.

Sammy: 21 - 35. Mickey’s derelict brother. Baritone/Tenor

Mrs. Johnstone: This role is being played by Andrea McArdle.

Mrs. Lyons: 35 - 45. Eddies adoptive, paranoid mother. Mezzo

Mr. Lyons: 35 - 55. Eddies adoptive father. Baritone.

Narrator: 30 – 60. This role is already cast.

Linda: This role is already cast.

Two male and one female ensemble: 21 – 35. Singers who move well.

BEEHIVE

Creator: Larry Gallagher.

1st rehearsal: 4/25/11. Runs 5/5 – 5/7 and 5/12 – 5/14 at 8pm, 5/8 and 5/15 at 2pm and 7:30pm.

Three Equity actor contracts available.

Of the six female characters listed below, ALL must have good vocal and musical skills with an excellent sense of the 1960’s female pop/rock style. They must all be able to sing in close three part harmony. Movement and/or dance experience is essential for each of the characters. While two actresses must be African American, all roles are open for multi-racial casting.

Girl One: 21 - 45. Strong Actress & Singer carries the bulk of the dialogue and narration. Strong powerful and engaging. Must have ability to interact comfortably with audience. Rock Mezzo.

Girl Two: 21 - 45. African American. Portrays Diana Ross of the Supremes as well as lead singer of other early 60’s girl groups. Rock Mezzo.

Girl Three: 21 - 45. Portrays Janis Joplin and others. Heavy Rock Mezzo.

Girl Four: 21 – 45. Most lyrically warm voice of all girls. Sings “Downtown”, “Where The Boys Are”, etc. Rock Mezzo.

Girl Five: 21 – 45. Sings “It’s My Party”, “Wishin’ & Hopin’.” Rock Mezzo.

Girl Six: 21 – 45. African American. Sings songs from many of the leading African American singers of the 1960’s. Rock Mezzo.
