Seeking:
Clarence:
AVAILABLE ROLE. 35. Small-town businessman/developer. Big fish in a small pond. Measures a man’s worth by his wealth. Club man and a bit of a bully. Protective of his sister, but out-of-touch with what would actually make her happy.
Harry:
AVAILABLE ROLE. 40-55. Bartender. Big, sweet guy. Even-keeled and kind. Generally stays above the fray, but finds himself getting sucked into the excitement when the big money starts rolling in.
Frankie:
AVAILABLE ROLE. 30s-40s. Friend of Patsy. Small-time gambler. The one who actually places most of the bets and divides up the money … when it’s coming in. Street-smart and bookie-smart, but probably not too many other kinds of smart. Mutt to Charlie’s Jeff, or vice versa.
Audrey:
AVAILABLE ROLE. Early - mid 20s. Erwin’s wife – and determined to be a good one. Just starting out as a traditional, suburban home-maker. Has great expectations, but limited life experience … and even less experience of household budgets. But she loves and believes in her husband, and fervently hopes for his success. Won’t hear a word said against him.
Mabel:
AVAILABLE ROLE. 20s. Former showgirl. Patsy’s girlfriend. Not the brightest bulb on the tree – and comically so – but loyal to a fault. Loves Patsy, and has stuck with him through thick and thin. Loves luxury when it comes her way, but not above pawning her jewelry to help Patsy make the next bet. What she really wants is a nice house in the suburbs and a “normal” life … that, or to return to the stage.
The following roles are cast (i.e. offers have been accepted). Auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.
Erwin:
CAST. 30s. Mild-mannered milquetoast. Nice but somewhat unobservant. Plays by the rules; doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Content with the simple pleasures in life.
Patsy:
CAST. Man, 35-50. De facto leader of his trio of small-time gamblers. Always on the lookout for an angle or a tip. Take-charge attitude and gift of gab mostly mask the edge of desperation underneath. Has a sense of humor, but likes to be the one making the jokes. His moral compass follows its own logic, but he has a heart.
Charlie:
CAST. 30s-40s. Friend of Patsy. Small-time gambler. The worrier and wise-cracker of the trio. Jeff to Frankie’s Mutt, or vice versa.
Mr. J. G. Carver:
CAST. 50s-60s. Erwin’s boss – owner of the greeting card company. Successful, entitled, corporate through and through. A blowhard.
Theatre states “The Actors Company Theatre/TACT is an actor-driven, actor-run company of professional actors … Although TACT casts initially from its company, it does regularly engage [non-company] actors for specific roles throughout its season and is particularly interested in meeting classically trained, versatile, and imaginative actors who are skilled in character work and transformation.”
