Preparation
Prepare 32 bars of a song; Have a contrasting selection ready. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided.

Be prepared to dance if asked.

Sides will also be provided at the audition and available on theatre web-site

Bring picture/resume, stapled together

MACK & MABEL
Music & Lyrics: Jerry Herman
Book: Michael Stewart
1st reh: 12/29/14. Runs 1/8 - 1/17/15
Seven Equity actor contracts available to be cast among all available roles.

MACK & MABEL involves the tumultuous romantic relationship between Hollywood director Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand, who became one of Sennett’s biggest stars. In a series of flashbacks Sennett relates the glory days of Keystone Studios from 1911, when he discovered Normand and cast her in dozens of his early “two-reelers.”

Seeking:

Mack Sennett
55 - 65. A workaholic silent film director. Baritone.

Mabel Normand
23 - 35. A deli delivery girl who becomes a movie star. Mack reluctantly becomes romantically involved with her. Mezzo.

William Desmond Taylor
30 - 50. A serious director, and rival for both Mabel's acting talents and her affections.

Frank
35 - 45. An actor/writer, and later a director. Baritone.

Ensemble Men & Women

SWEENEY TODD

SWEENEY TODD, Set in the 19th century England, Sweeney Todd is an unjustly exiled barber who returns to London seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd helps her integrate an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up to eat them.

Seeking:

Sweeney Todd:
40 – 55. CAST. Morose and brooding, a barber by profession who returned to London (after fifteen years of unjust incarceration in an Australian penal colony) to seek revenge first on the corrupt judge who sent him there, and then simply on whoever proves unfortunate enough to end up in his shop. Baritone.

Mrs. Lovett:
40 -50. CAST. A cheery and chatty but wholly amoral restaurateur whose business has become run down due to a scarcity of meat and who would like to be more than a landlady to Mr. Todd. Mezzo.

Anthony Hope:
23 - 30. A young, naïve sailor who has rescued Todd and falls in love with Johanna Barker. Tenor.

Johanna Barker:
23 - 28. Todd's beautiful young daughter, claimed by Judge Turpin as his own ward. Soprano.

Judge Turpin:
55 - 65. A corrupt and depraved judiciary official who twists the system to serve his own ends and who has become infatuated by Johanna as she has matured. Bass-Baritone.

Tobias Ragg:
23 - 28. A simple young lad who works first for Pirelli, and then for Mrs. Lovett, but does not trust Todd. Tenor.

Beadle Bamford:
40 - 55. Turpin's right-hand man and accomplice to his dirty deeds. Tenor/Counter Tenor.

Adolfo Prelli:
40 – 55. An Irish charlatan and former employee of Benjamin Barker's who has since developed a public persona as a flashy, Italian barber; he attempts to blackmail Todd whom he ultimately recognizes from his youth. Tenor.

Beggar Woman:
40 - 50. A mad crone with a filthy tongue whose interjections go unheeded, but who is eventually revealed to be Lucy Barker, the wife of Benjamin Barker. Mezzo - Soprano

Ensemble Men & Women:
25 - 55. Must sing well.

Brooklyn, is the story of a band of performers who tell a wondrous sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl searching for fame and the father she never knew. With just one clear voice to hear her, she lands in the city that bears her name, Brooklyn.

Ethnic diversity a must in this show; especially encouraging African-American & Latino American performers to attend

20 – 28. Strong belt. Street performer who plays the girl.

Faith:
20 – 30. Strong Belt. Street performer who plays the girls mother.

Street Singer:
35 - 55. Rock Baritone. Street performer who acts as the narrator.

Taylor Collins:
35 - 55. Rock Tenor. Street performer who plays the girls father.

Paradice:
25 – 45. Strong belt. Street performer who plays a diva rock star.

They’re Playing Our Song is based upon his real-life relationship with singer-songwriter Carol Bayer Sager, a wisecracking composer finds the offbeat lyricist a good match but not initially a match made in heaven. The two undergo a series of trials and overcome a number of hurdles before finding true love by the final curtain.

Seeking:

Vernon Gersch:
35 - 50. Wisecracking composer, aloof but focused. Pop Baritone.

Sonia Walsk:
30 - 45. Off-beat lyricist, disorganized and distracted.

The Voices of Vernon:
25 - 40. Three men with great singing voices who move well and have good character reactions.

The Voices of Sonia:
25 - 40. Three women with great singing voices who move well and have good character reactions.
