Theatre By The Sea 2012

– Equity Chorus Calls / Singers and Dancers

Ocean State Theatre Company, Inc Matunuck, RI LOA $525/week minimum.

Equity Chorus Calls:

Friday, March 16, 2012 Chelsea Studios

10 AM – Equity male and female singers 151 West 26th Street, 5th Floor

2 PM – Equity male and female dancers New York City

Singers: Prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song and 16 bars of a ballad. Note that there may be time to perform one selection only. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose. Some may be asked to stay and dance after all have sung. Bring character shoes and dance clothes.

Dancers: Be warmed up/ready to dance when the call begins. Bring dancewear and dance shoes, including character shoes with heels. Some may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Please prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose.

All: Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.


All dates are in 2012. Theatre states that it prefers to see performers at either the EPA or the ECC/Singers, but not at both calls.


The Sound of Music Music: Richard Rodgers. Lyrics: Oscar Hammerstein II. Book: Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Dir: Amiee Turner. Choreo and Mus Dir TBD. 1st reh: 6/5. Runs 6/20-7/14.


Ensemble: Strong, legitimate singing voices are required for all ensemble positions. Several smaller characters will be cast from the chorus.



9 TO 5, THE MUSICAL Score: Dolly Parton. Book: Patricia Resnick. Dir/Choreo: Russell Garrett. Mus Dir TBD. 1st reh: 7/3. Runs 7/18-8/11.


Ensemble: All must be very strong, all-around performers who consider themselves technical dancers with good singing voices. Several smaller characters will be cast from the chorus, including but not limited to


    Joe: Junior accountant. Has a crush on Violet.

    Tinsworthy: Chairman of the Board. Has the bearing of an army general.



HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING Score: Frank Loesser. Book: Abe Burrows & Jack Weinstock. Dir, Choreo and Mus Dir TBD. 1st reh: 7/31. Runs 8/15-9/2.


Ensemble: All must be very strong, all-around performers who consider themselves technical dancers with good singing voices. Several smaller characters will be cast from the chorus.
