This production will embrace"Non-traditional Casting." Performers of African American, Latino, and Asian ethnicities are encouraged to submit and audition. [MRS WALKER] 20s-30s. Mezzo Soprano. Tommy’s Mother. Strong singer /actor. Move well. After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother's lover by his father at the age of 4, Tommy is traumatized into catatonia, and as the boy grows, he suffers abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. As an adolescent, he’s discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball. When his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, Tommy becomes an international pinball superstar. Music and Lyrics by Pete Townshend Book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff San Diego Repertory and The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts Theatre are excited to be co-producing the Tony Award winning Broadway rock opera The Who’s Tommy.
