Comida De Puta (F#@king lousy food) by Desi Moreno-Penson.

Laluz:

Hispanic woman, 30-37. Viejo’s wife. Desperately in love with Sotero. Sexy, selfish.

Rosalia:

Hispanic woman, 37-50. Ghostly neighborhood spiritual woman. Appears to be a confidante of Laluz.

Viejo:

Hispanic, 45-55. Laluz’s husband. Owns the neighborhood bodega.

Sotero:

Hispanic, 20s. Viejo’s son. Handsome. Works the bodega lunch counter.

Learning to Swim by France-Luc Benson.

Daughter:

28-35. Born in the US, of Haitian parents. Her husband is Italian. She speaks Italian, and is learning French.

Father:

50-60, Haitian. French-speaking. Speaks English with a Haitian French accent.

Husband:

30-35, Caucasian Italian. Recent immigrant. Speaks Italian, and English with an Italian accent.

Mother:

50-60, Haitian. French-speaking. Speaks English with a Haitian French accent.

Mary Lincoln:

Caucasian woman of Irish, English and Scottish descent, 45-48. Abe Lincoln’s wife. Refined, comfortable. Socially graceful, but given to emotional outbursts. High-strung.

Elizabeth Keckley:

African American woman, 45-48. Mary Lincoln’s dressmaker and handmaid. Well-spoken, savvy businesswoman. Capable of standing her ground. She had been enslaved, but purchased her freedom and wrote an autobiography.

One for the Brothers by Pearl Cleage.

Woman:

African American, 59-63. An aging beauty. Highly articulate and observant.

Man:

35-40. Clean-cut; dresses in the uniform of The Nation – dark suit, white shirt and bow tie. Sells “Muhammad Speaks” newspapers and bean pies on the streets of Atlanta in the 1960s.

Alcoholic Man:

45-50. Ravaged by liquor. Thin, lovelorn, looks older than his years.

Light-skinned, multi-ethnic (including African American) woman. 30-37. Beautiful. Headstrong.

Sean:

African American man, 30-37. Handsome alpha male. Very true and loyal friend.

purchased home. Has a wry, juvenile sense of humor.

Shirley:

African American woman, 55-65. Highly articulate. Versed in the law. Definite in manner.

American Woman:

Any ethnicity, 35-45. Well-off, comfortable businesswoman; 35-45.

Nigerian Woman:

33-42. From a traditional African village. Wears a lapa and sandals.
