New York Auditions will be held November 21, 2011, by appointment only.

Los Angeles Auditions will be held November 16 and possibly the 17, 2011, by appointment only.

*Note: California actors must be available for San Diego call back session on 11/22/11

SEEKING

Actor 1:

Plays the following:

  • Orlando: (in AS YOU LIKE IT) Male 20s-30s. The youngest son of Sir Rowland de Bois. Strong wit and strength of character. In love with Rosalind.

  • Earl Of Richmond: (in RICHARD III) Male 20s-30s. Gathers a force to oppose Richard for the crown. Good looking with a hard edge. Ambitious. Ruthless in his way. His talk of goodness is spin.

  • Bertram Cates : (in INHERIT THE WIND) Male 20s-30s. A young science teacher who has been arrested and put on trial for teaching his students Darwin’s theory of evolution. A curious, soft-spoken, humble man who is skeptical when it comes to the breadth of human knowledge.

Actor 2:

Plays the following:

  • Duke Senior: (in AS YOU LIKE IT) Male late 30s-mid 50s. Rightful Duke, but banished into the forest. Has an innate goodness and strength of character.

  • Kind Edward IV: (in RICHARD III) Male late 30s-mid 50s. King of England and older brother to Richard and Clarence. Overthrew the previous regime, but seeks reconciliation. Self pitying. Guilty conscience.

  • Judge: (in INHERIT THE WIND) Male late 30s-mid 50s. The judge presiding over the Cates’s trial. Despite his personal beliefs about the Bible’s legitimacy, he tries to remain impartial.

Actor 3:

Plays the following:

  • Jacques: (in AS YOU LIKE IT) Male mid 30s-mid 40s. Faithful Lord to Duke Senior, who follows him to exile. A great humor, an intellectual, and politically contentious.

  • Duke Of Buckingham: (in RICHARD III) Male mid 30s-mid 40s. Richard’s right hand man in his conspiracies. A real rapport and competitiveness with Richard. A consummate politician. Plays the game brutally. A manipulator. Ruthless with an edge.

  • Tom Davenport: (in INHERIT THE WIND) Male mid 40s-mid 50s. The local district attorney who assists the prosecution. Male 40s-50s. The local district attorney. Happy to be second fiddle and supporter of the superstar prosecuting attorney. Impartial by job description, although his personal views about the Bible’s legitimacy are in line with those of the rest of the townspeople.

Actor 4:

Plays the following:

  • Celia: (in AS YOU LIKE IT) Female 20s-30s. Daughter of Duke Frederick and Rosalind’s dearest friend. Witty, aristocratic, funny, clever.

  • Lady Anne & Ghost: (in RICHARD III) Female 20s-30s. The young widow of dethroned Prince Edward. Intelligent, Beautiful, Attractive. Her reticence, dignity, and awareness of position belie her passion, hatred, and sensuality inside.

  • Rachel: (in INHERIT THE WIND) Female 20s-30s. The daughter of Rev. Brown and a close friend and fellow colleague of Bertram Cates. Their relationship borders on romantic. She is caught between her allegiance to her father and her feelings for Bertram.

Actor 5

Plays the following:

  • Queen Margaret: (in RICHARD III) Female 50s-60s. Widow of dethroned King Henry IV. Powerful, but down on her luck. Formidable, but unstable. Slightly trampy, but held together with remembrance of a sense of decorum.

  • Mrs. Brady: (in INHERIT THE WIND) Female 50s-60s. The wife of prosecuting attorney, Matthew Harrison Brady. She is overbearing and consistently nags her husband, earning her the nickname of “mother.” 40s-50s. Happy to take a back seat to her husband’s as long as she can control him by her constant nagging and babying.
