NOTE: While the characters are written with he/him or she/her pronouns in the original scripts, we welcome gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to audition for the roles they most identify with. In addition, we will list disability when specific to a character, but are otherwise seeking actors of all abilities. SEEKING:

ARIEL: Character is female identifying, any ethnicity, 18-30. Soprano with belt. A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kindhearted. Funny, with strong physical comedy. Excellent singer. Strong mover. NOTE: Flying experience is a plus.

PRINCE ERIC: Character is male identifying, any ethnicity, 25-35. Tenor. A human monarch who has no interest in taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Excellent singer. Strong mover.

SEBASTIAN: ROLE HAS BEEN CAST -

SEEKING

UNDERSTUDIES ONLY. Character is male identifying, Black, 20-40. High Baritone. A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Charming, and hilarious. A true song and dance man, and funny! NOTE: Puppetry skills are a plus.

URSULA: Character is female identifying, any ethnicity, 35-55. Mezzo Soprano with Broadway Belt. The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Funny, vampy, but malevolent, calculating, and deceptive.

GRIMBSY: Character is male identifying, any ethnicity, 45-65. Baritone. Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage.

KING TRITON: Character is male identifying, any ethnicity, 45-60. Baritone. King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. NOTE: Flying experience is a plus.

FLOUNDER: Character is male identifying, any ethnicity, 18-25. Baritone. Ariel’s best friend and loyal companion. Tends to panic in stressful situations. Strong mover and singer.

SCUTTLE: Character is any gender, any ethnicity, 20-40. Baritone. A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Bumbling and forgetful but has a heart of gold. Funny, loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite their supposed expertise. Strong tap dancer. Strong singer.

FLOTSAM & JETSAM: Characters are any gender, any ethnicity, 20-40. High Tenor and Baritone. Eels and Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, they will say anything you want or need to hear. Must be comfortable on heelys or willing to learn. NOTE: Puppetry skills are a plus.

CHEF LOUIS: Character is male identifying, any ethnicity, 35-50. High Baritone The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades; seafood in particular. Lots of physical comedy and featured comic singing. Great comedic timing.

ENSEMBLE: Characters are any gender, any ethnicity, 20-40. Excellent dancers in both ballet and jazz; should have strong contemporary musical theater voices; looking for diversity and unique performers; will play a range of maids, gulls, princesses, lagoon animals, sea creatures, mersisters, chefs, sailors, and more. Ariel Double and swings will come from the ensemble.
