The Great Divide is an American drama from 1906, tells the story of a woman forced into an unthinkable marriage.

Theatre’s Submission Advice:

Actors of all ethnicities strongly encouraged to submit, several actors will take on multiple roles.

NOTE: Please submit for only one role below. This breakdown is for casting purposes; actors will be considered for all appropriate roles and for roles not listed.

Ruth:

Woman. 20s Idealistic, free-spirit with a strong moral compass. Torn between her love of the wild, untamed West and her puritan New England upbringing.

Mrs. Jordan:

Woman. 55-65 New England Matriarch

Ghent:

Man. 30s Strong, reticent man of the West. Has lived a profligate life, but will be reborn because of his love for Ruth.

Winthrop:

Man. 20s Earnest young doctor

Lon:

Man. 55-65 Crusty Western miner. Will double as kindly New England Doctor.
