Seeknig;

He Guangming:

Asian Male, age 40-80. A retired cadre of one provincial commission of China, born in 1920s. He fought with the Japanese during the World War and then again with the Red Army against the KMT to establish the country.

Guo Chunlan:

Asian female, age 40-80. The eldest daughter of He's family, born in 1940s. She was left behind and adopted by farmers during the war years and grew up with foster parents. She lived in the countryside hundreds of miles away in remote Hubei province with her husband, who is now deceased.

He Daming:

Asian male, age 40-80. The eldest son of He's family, born in 1950s. He lives in Beijing, a professor at the National Defense College, senior colonel. With both seriousness and humor, he seeks the ideal combination of tradition and modernity.

He Qiuju:

Asian female, age 40-80. The second daughter of He's family, born in 1950s. She also lives in Wuhan with her husband Liu Ping who works in the government administration.

He Xiaoming:

Asian male, age late 30s-80. The youngest son of He Guangming, born in 1960s. Because of the age difference between him and his brothers and sisters, there is generation gap in thinking with his siblings. He lives in Wuhan in his parents’ home with his daughter, Dian Dian, and wife when she is not in USA.

Kang Yuanyuan:

Asian female, age 30-80. He Xiaoming’s soon-to-be ex-wife, born in 1960s. She adopts the epicurean style, and cares mainly about wealth and appearance. She has been living mostly in the USA for the last three years and now she and Xiaoming are quietly getting divorced.

Dian Dian:

Asian female, age 18-25. The daughter of He Xiaoming, born in 1980s. Though she is intrigued with fashion, she is a caring girl.

Zhou Xiaojian:

Asian male, age 25-35. The son of Guo Chunlan, born in 1970s. Since he knew his mother's sad life as an estranged sibling, he has hated He’s family. He moved from Hubei to Wuhan and secretly got a job in Xiaoming’s company.
