7 PM – 10:30 PM each day

Doors open at 6:30pm

Equity audition procedures are NOT in effect. No Equity monitor provided. Producer runs all aspects of the audition.

Prepare one 2-3 Minute Shakespeare monologue, preferably a comedy.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking: Exceptional actors with solid voice and movement training adept at Shakespeare and physical comedy. Circus skills a plus. Hand-puppetry required for some [see below]. Ability to hold a tune necessary, some group singing in show by all, with some possible solo lines. If you play an instrument, we may incorporate your skills into the production. The Comedy of Errors will be a multicultural, multiethnic production. A sense of humor is mandatory.

Five Men:

To play the roles: Doctor Pinch/Duke Puppet; Egeon/Luce/Jailor-Headsman Puppet; Antipholus of Syracuse; Antipholus of Ephesus/Officer Puppet; Angelo/Balthazar Puppet/Officer Puppet

Five Women:

To play the roles: Emilia/1st Merchant/; Dromio of Syracuse; Dromio of Ephesus; Adriana/Courtesan Puppet; Luciana/Officer Puppet

Directions to the audition location:

Subway: 2 or 3 train to Clark St.

4 or 5 train to Borough Hall

R train to Court St./Borough Hall

A or C train to High Street

F train to Jay Street or to York St.

Rehearsal/Production Schedule

Rehearsals: Begin Tuesday, April 4 (6:30-10:30pm); continuing Tuesdays through Fridays (6:30-10:30pm), Saturdays and Sundays TBA (afternoons or evenings depending on schedules).

Performances:

Cranberry Street Space at Assumption Church, 55 Cranberry Street (between Henry & Hicks Sts.), Brooklyn Heights: May 4–6, 10–13, 24–27, May 31–June 2; Thurs. at 7pm, Fri. & Sat. at 8pm and Sun. at 3pm. Note: no performances the weekend of May 17-20

Brooklyn Bridge Park – “Bard on Pier One” at the Granite Prospect: Saturday June 9 and Sunday June 10, both at 7pm
