Please prepare a brief, traditional musical theatre song. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose.

Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Seeking (all roles are available):

Note: All performers must be excellent singers.

Marcelle Solliliage:

Mid/late 30s. Monique’s mother. Member of the Resistance. Has recently lost her husband. A warm spirit, loving, courageous and very grounded. Has a deep love for her daughter and a profound respect for humanity. French accent. Mezzo soprano (down to low G).

Monsieur Paul Hoffman / Stammfuehrer Walter:

Two-role track for one actor. Paul: Mid/late 30s. Sevrine’s father. Paul is an actor. Joyous; a man of definitive positivity; extremely thankful for those who are hiding him and his daughter. Walter: In charge of the Hitler Youth movement, and mentor to Henri. Cruel, conniving and manipulative. Seeking a strong character actor, adept with creating multiple, uniquely different roles. French and German accents. Baritenor (up to F).

Monsieur Philippe Marks / Others:

Multi-role track for one actor. Marks: French Jewish man, early/mid 60s. Owner of the local candy shop. Endearing; wise; has been through it all, but remains fun-spirited. On the frail side. Think of your loving, playful grandfather who adores children. Actor also plays Pere Voulliard, the village priest who is a leader of the Resistance. Also plays a Nazi Soldier. French accent. Puppeteer skills a plus but not necessary. Baritone.

Henri Lendormy:

Seeking actor 18+ to play a 16-year-old boy. Henri is a member of the French Hitlerjugend. He is a young boy who has been swept up by the Nazi mentality. Starts out obedient, watchful, tough and ready to impress. Behind this veneer, however, is a vulnerable, innocent teen who eventually yearns for forgiveness. French accent. Tenor (up to G#).

Monique:

French girl, age 12. Catholic. Bright-eyed, full of life, possesses wonderful child-like qualities but also an eventual depth of maturity. Can be a bit of a lovely, brave spitfire. French accent. Soprano with a strong middle register.

Sevrine:

French Jewish girl, age 11. Angelic; possesses an inner strength, a quiet bravery. A gentle soul who yearns to be free, to see the world again. Has an empathetic innocence. She and her father have been in hiding and have not seen daylight for quite some time. French accent. Soprano with a strong middle register.
