ATTN: “THE BEAR”
SEEKING:
Elena Ivanova Popova:
Female; mid 20s-mid 30s; young widow; petite; vacillates between utter helplessness and complete bossiness; emotionally fragile; insecure; trying to keep it all together; moves quickly; feisty when provoked.
Gregoril Stepanovich Smirnov:
Male; mid 30s-mid 40s; a middle-aged landowner; boorish; coarse; broad-shouldered; misogynistic and overbearing; frustrated by the unjust lot his life has dealt him; a real brutish jerk when provoked but surprisingly vulnerable underneath the macho.
Luka:
Male; 60s-70s; Popova’s elderly servant/footman; sweet; eager, but at the same time quite hapless; spry; wants to take initiative, but tries his best to stay in his place; think Don Knotts but not quite as bumbling or someone like Mark Rylance plus 25 years
