UPDATE, posted 11.2.10: All onstage roles have now been cast (i.e. offers accepted). No private auditions were held; roles were cast by offer only. Production is now seeking Understudies only (some may understudy more than one role), for the following characters:
Coach Understudy:
Onstage role is cast. Seeking Understudy only. 60s. Caucasian. Huge man of Old Testament temperament. Man of immense and powerful contradictions. The most influential person in these men’s lives.
George Sitkowski Understudy:
Onstage role is cast. Seeking Understudy only. Polish American, 40s. Likable, appealing yet inept. The town’s mayor. Paunchy. A bit foolish, he has no real ideas of his own, and does mostly what everyone else tells him to. Blustery and slightly desperate.
James Daley Understudy:
Onstage role is cast. Seeking Understudy only. Irish American, 40s. Principal of the junior high school and George’s campaign manager. Loyal and responsible, he deeply resents that he is not as successful, powerful or respected as he thinks he should be. Flailing in his own mediocrity.
Tom Daley Understudy:
Onstage role is cast. Seeking Understudy only. Irish American, 40s. James’s younger brother, a witty but despairing alcoholic. Bitter, unsuccessful and cynical, he is the only one who is not sentimental about their past; comments on the other men’s foolishness throughout the night. Attractive. Intense and restless, he can’t help but be sardonic.
Phil Romano Understudy:
Onstage role is cast. Seeking Understudy only. Italian American, 40s. Arrogant and opinionated. Money, influence, fast cars and women are the center of his life. The primary investor in George’s mayoral elections, he is wavering in his financial support for this particular campaign.
