Cold readings from the script. Sides to be posted on
www.uptownplayers.org website by November 14. Bring 2 copies of headshot and resume to audition. The script is available at S.T.A.G.E. (for members only) and the Uptown Players office by appointment.
Other Dates
First rehearsal the week of January 9th. Production opens February 3 and is scheduled to close on February 19. There is the possibility of a 1 week extension. Performances are Thursday through Sunday.

Two SPT contracts will be available for this production. Rehearsals and performances to take place at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
•KIPPY SUNDERSTROM - 20's-30's, Caucasian, athletic, New York Empires' shortstop, married, father of three, Darren Lemming's best friend (on the team), intelligent, peacemaker, acts as one of two narrators of the play, nudity required.
•DARREN LEMMING - 20's-30's, mixed race (White mother/Black father), athletic, New York Empires' center fielder, team captain, superstar, single, secretive, assumes coming out will not harm him, has a feeling of invincibility, nudity required.
•SHANE MUNGITT - 20's-30's, Caucasian, athletic, New York Empires' relief pitcher brought up from minors, redneck hillbilly, racist, homophobic, illiterate, nudity required.
•MARTINEZ & RODRIGUEZ - 20's-30's, Latinos, athletic, New York Empires' players, never seen without the other, speak only in Spanish, nudity required.
•SKIPPER - 50+, Caucasian, New York Empires' Manager, wise, think Joe Torre, feels he invented Darren; also doubles as WLLIAM R. DANZINGER - submitter of a piece of hate mail.
•JASON CHENIER - 20's, Caucasian, athletic, New York Empires' catcher (smaller, compact build), new to the team, in awe of Darren, not very bright, gullible, youngest player, nudity required.
•TODDY KOOVITZ - 20's-30's, Caucasian, athletic, New York Empires' outfielder, ignorant, homophobic, loud mouth, nudity required.
•DAVEY BATTLE - 20's-30's, African/American, athletic, Darren's long time best friend, on an opposing team, pious, righteous, married, family man, father of three, can be bombastic.
•MASON MARZAC - 40's-50's, shy, funny, repressed, homosexual, Darren's business manager, comes to fall in love with the game of baseball late in life, the game brings him out of his shell and gives his life new meaning, acts the 2nd narrator for the play.
