Summer Shorts 2011: “Best of the Fest”

City Theatre Miami FL LOA (approval/salary level pending; 2010 weekly minimum: $375). Theatre states that “Ensemble” members will receive Equity minimum. “Headliner” receives $1,000/week, “lush downtown accommodations”, airfare and ground transportation.

Rehearses Tu – Su, 5/17/11 - 6/2/11 Tuesdays-Sundays. Runs Th – Su, 6/3-6/26 (five shows/week). All rehearsals and performances are at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami. May extend. Also runs Th – Sa, 6/30 - 7/3 at a Broward County theatre TBA.

Please prepare a brief, contemporary monologue (preferably under three minutes).
Please bring TWO sets of your stapled-together photo/resume.
Callbacks will be held later in the fall of 2010, date TBD. Those called back will be asked to do cold readings from plays under consideration for the 2011 festival.
2011’s Summer Shorts Festival program will be composed of eight short plays selected from a pool of 25 proven plays from previous Summer Shorts seasons. The pool of scripts is a mix of the best plays by the nation's premier writers (City Theatre has produced new plays by Neil LaBute, Paul Rudnick, Kenneth Lonergan, David Lindsey-Abaire, Christopher Durang, William Mastrosimone, Tina Howe and David Ives).
Seeking (all listed positions are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted)):
Ensemble of 5 - 7 Actors (M/F):
Each will perform 4 - 7 roles in this program of short plays. Seeking strong, versatile actors who are able to play a diversity of roles.
“Headliner” (M/F):
Seeking a television/film star with stage experience to headline the 2011 Summer Shorts Festival, “Best of the Fest”. Any age, any ethnicity. Strong comedic skills required. The acting versatility of the “Headliner” will be highlighted with a roster of short plays. The program will be compiled with the “Headliner” in mind, and the “Headliner” will have the right of refusal on all materials and roles.
