Seeking (please read character descriptions carefully, and submit only if you are “right” for one or more roles and are available throughout the contract dates):

Arthur Przybyszewski:

Caucasian, late 50s. Old, pony-tail-wearing hippie; was a draft dodger in his day, and disgraced his very proud Polish father. Holds on to the baggage that comes along with that. Has very little in his life except his donut shop. As he has grown older, he has forgotten how to connect with people on an emotional level and, despite his distant attitude, part of him is brought to life by the bright, optimistic Franco. Intelligent. Kind. Lonely.

Franco Wicks:

African American, early 20s. A dreamer. His optimistic energy is contagious, as he comes up with new ideas and"plans" for the shop. Self-proclaimed self-starter, trying to get out of the poverty- stricken life that he grew up in. Has made bad gambling decisions, and now has some dangerous enemies. Not certain how to get out of his predicament, but always has a plan to it work out. It's that optimism that is one of his best qualities, but also keeps him from facing alarming realities. Charming. Verbal. Funny.

Officer Randy Osteen:

Caucasian woman, late 40s-50. Tough-talking tomboy; grew up with all brothers and a family in the force. Doesn't exactly know what to do with her feelings for Arthur, and doesn't want to make the first move, although always trying to drop hints of her attraction. A cop, and a good one. But also a woman.

Max Tarasov:

Russian, late 40s. Immigrant; has been seeking out the"American Dream". Owns a video shop next door to Arthur. Very ambitious. Knows that he needs to gain more before he can be considered successful. Businessman. Frequently puts his foot where his mouth is, without really even knowing it. Charismatic. Foul-mouthed. Role requires an actor with strong comic"chops" and facility with a Russian accent.

Kiril Ivakin:

Russian, late 20s - early 30s. Enormous meathead. Just arrived in America from Russia. Muscular, tall and very impressive physically. Max’s cousin. Said to look like Dolph Lundgren from the “Rocky” movie. Despite his large stature, he is head-over-heels in love with a bartender he met, but won't tell her he loves her for fear she won't reciprocate and he will be forever heartbroken. Speaks Russian throughout, and English with a Russian accent.
