Seeking:

Arturo or Ralphie (Male Singer – Tap A Plus):

Caucasian male characters, 30s-40s. Seeking performer to play either Arturo or Ralphie. ABILITY TO TAP DANCE A BIG PLUS. Mafia boss/gangster. May be a “Tony Soprano”-type – large Italian guy with the strength of the Mob behind him. Ideally, but not necessarily, a darker-skinned “Sicilian” character. Actor could also be less character, even younger and more handsome, as long as he can pull off a PHYSICAL PRESENCE WITH A SENSE OF MENACE AND STRENGTH. Characters are at home with colloquialisms such as, “This friggin’ kid has a smart mouth”. One of these characters is the guy who kisses you on the cheek before you get whacked. But if he says you’re OK, then you’re safe. The other is the guy who pulls the trigger and disposes of the body. A heartbreakingly pure Italian-style tenor voice would be of interest, but is not required. ACTOR MUST BE ABLE TO SING AND DANCE. Must be familiar with or have a feel for 1970s R&B/Soul/Funk music.

Male Dancers Who Tap and Sing / 1970s Harlem Underground Drug-World Figures:

These Ensemble characters are African American, mixed race, Latino or of Asian descent. Seeking male dancers who tap and sing. Performers must be able to dance well enough to handle choreography rooted in post-modern/modern dance and in the gestural language of Bill T. Jones, as well as TAP. Ballet and modern. Circus training, acrobatics, aerial work and/or gymnastics abilities for fight scenes a plus. Ability to improvise and communicate through an original movement sequence. Ballroom/social dancing from the early 80s back to the 20s/30s is a plus. Performers must be able to sing, sometimes multi-part harmony, and be familiar with or have a feel for 1970s R&B/Soul/Funk music. These men will play the iconic figures of the underground drug world in the Harlem of the 1970s.

If unable to attend, please send picture/resume immediately to SUPER FLY, c/o Mungioli Theatricals, Inc., 151 West 26th St 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
