Prepare a song, in proper key, to show vocal range. An accompanist will be provided. Brief readings from sides provided. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking strong, energetic and creative ingénues, juvenile and character actor/singers for a season of three original musicals for family audiences. Must be 18 or older.

HANSEL AND GRETEL

1st Reh: 12/15/11. Runs: 12/19/11 - 1/14/12

Seeking:

Hansel:

18-25, juvenile, baritone/tenor; must move well, able to play young teenager, likeable young boy, who doesn’t always listen and gets into boyish trouble.

Gretel:

18-25, mezzo-soprano/soprano; must move well, able to play young teenager, is younger sister to Hansel, relies on Hansel a lot, but is true to herself and gets stronger and more independent as the show progresses.

Mother/Guardian Angel:

35 – 50. Played by one actor. Character actress, mezzo soprano/soprano. Mother is hard working housewife who loves her children, but is desperate to make ends meet and find her lost children. Guardian Angel is the one who keeps Hansel and Gretel safe in the forest.

Father/Sandman:

35 – 55. Played by one actor, character actor, baritone, is hardworking broom maker, diligent, loving and concerned about his children. As Sandman, must have comic timing, as he tries to help Hansel and Gretel in the woods.

Foxy Freda:

18 - 30, mezzo-soprano, is a bewitched young girl who entices children to the witch’s gingerbread house, sly, sassy, spunky, but not afraid of Rosinna.

Rosinna Rubylips Daintymouth:

30 – 50. Character actress, the gingerbread witch who looks like a loving grandmother, but is cunning, devious, mean and notorious for baking children into cookies, must have comic timing.

ALADDIN

1st Reh: 2/23/12. Runs: 2/28/12 - 3/11/12

Seeking:

Aladdin:

18 - 25, juvenile, tenor; young looking, a poor young man, with great spirit and love of life, street smart.

Sapphira:

18 - 25, ingénue: soprano, young looking princess with royal bearing, but feisty and stubborn.

Sultan:

40 - 55, character actor, baritone, easily swayed by money and riches, not the wisest or smartest man, but a good father to Sapphira.

Mahajah:

45 - 55, character actor, baritone, an evil magician, conniving, menacing, deceptive, must have his way.

Yokeel:

35 - 45, mezzo-soprano; character actress, right hand “man” to Mahajah, but foolish and naïve, would do anything for Mahajah to keep their friendship.

Genie:

25 - 45, baritone, character actor; wise, obedient and loyal; must be very agile, have a strong stage presence.

THE WIZARD OF OZ

1st Reh: 4/26/12. Runs: 5/1/12 - 8/4/12 (Hiatus: 6/3-7/24/12)

Seeking:

Dorothy:

18 - 25,ingenue, soprano; genuine real person, very likable, playing older teenagers.

Auntie Em/Good Witch:

35 - 55, mezzo soprano, character actress; As Auntie Em is hard working Kansas farmer, tough as nails, but soft heart. As Good Witch. Light, ethereal, whimsical, but has strength and understanding.

Mrs. Glitch/Wicked Witch:

35 - 55, character actress, mezzo-soprano; As Mrs. Glitch; mean, older eccentric woman who hates just about everything. As Witched Witch; nasty, conniving and unlikable person.

Hickory/Tinman:

25 - 45, character actor, tenor; Hickory; farmhand who has a soft heart, gentle manners and a quick wit. Tinman; if there was one he’d be the leading man.

Corny/Scarecrow;

25 – 45. Character actor, baritone, must move well; As Corny; farmhand who loves to provoke hi fellow farmhands in harmless horseplay. As Scarecrow; witty with realizing he is gentile and agile.

Leo/Cowardly Lion:

25 – 45. Character actor, baritone/bass; As Leo, farmhand who is nervous and easily scared and often teased by others. As Lion; big bravado, but nervous and scared easily; friendly, lovable cat.

Professor/Wizard:

35 – 55. Non-singing character actor. As Professor; door-to-door peddler of a variety of goods. Con man who can sell you anything. As Wizard; kindhearted man who tries to help as best he can disguised as a powerful mysterious wizard.
