Equity Principal Auditions:

Monday, January 10, 2011 at Pearl Studios

AND 500 Eighth Avenue, 4th Floor

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 New York, NY (between 35th and 36th)

10 AM – 6 PM each day

Lunch from 1:30 – 2:30.

Prepare a song in the style of the show for which you’re auditioning. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Starlight Theatre is actively seeking a multi-cultural cast and utilizes non-traditional casting in their productions when ethnicity is not germane to the role or overall production.

THE KING AND I

The King of Siam:

40-50 Thai/Asian male; Autocratic and charismatic ruler. Baritone.

Anna Leonowens:

25-40 English Caucasian female; kind, gentle and determined teacher. Mezzo

Louis Leonowens:

11-13 English Caucasian male youth. Son of Anna. Tenor

Captain Orton:

30-50 English Caucasian male, captain who delivers Anna and Louis to Siam. (non singing)

Sir Edward Ramsay:

30-50 English Caucasian male; British Ambassador (also plays Orton) (non singing)

The Kralahome:

30-50 Thai/Asian male; Prime Minister of Siam. Spoken (non singing)

Tuptim:

18-30 Thai/Asian female, gift to King from Burma. She is to be married to the King. Soprano

Lun Tha:

18-30 Thai/Asian male, delivered Tuptim to King. He’s in love with Tuptim. Tenor

Lady Thiang:

30-45 Thai/Asian female. King’s number one wife. Soprano

Prince Chulalongkorn:

14-18 Oldest Son of King, heir to the throne. Tenor

CINDERELLA

Director: Mark Madama. Music Director: Anthony Edwards. Choreographer: JoAnn Hunter

1st rehearsal: 7/16/11. Runs: 7/25/11 - 7/31/11.

Cinderella:

Beautiful commoner, day dreamer and ward to a wicked stepmother. Soprano

Prince:

Handsome heir to the throne. Baritone

Fairy Godmother:

Magical female who appears to grant Cinderella’s wishes. Mezzo

Stepmother:

Wicked and strict head of Cinderella’s house. She’s more interested in her spoiled and mean daughters. Soprano

Joy:

Unkind stepsister, severe in her taunting of Cinderella and ugly at heart. Soprano

Portia:

Ugly at heart and unkind to Cinderella. Mezzo

King:

Kind and gentle ruler, enjoys beer. Bari-tenor

Queen:

Kind and concerned mother of the Prince. Soprano

Herald:

Royal aide and confidant to the Prince. Baritone

XANADU

Clio / Kira:

Comically gifted Olivia Newton-John surrogate; strong pop vocals with sense of humor. Must roller skate. Beautiful blonde daughter of Zeus and muse to Sonny. Pop Soprano

Sonny Malone:

Youthfully charming, struggling artist, 1980’s leading man, , strong comic instincts. Must roller skate. Pop Bari-tenor

Danny Maguire/Zeus:

Dynamic, mature leading actor; preferably has dance skills as well. Baritone

Calliope/Aphrodite:

Female Greek mythical character, Sister to Clio. Very funny character woman. Sings “Evil Woman” in a rock-pop Belt to an E flat.

Melpomene/Medusa:

Female Greek mythical character Sister to Clio. Raucously funny character. Sings “Evil Woman” in a rock-pop Belt to an E flat.
