Shakespeare and Company is casting a company of classically trained actors to play multiple roles in As You Like It and Romeo and Juliet. MOST but not ALL actors will appear in both plays. The theatre is committed to non-traditional casting, please submit actors of all ethnicities for all roles.

ROMEO AND JULIET

Seeking:

Juliet:

Female, 18+ to play teens. Any ethnicity. Juliet is radiant, passionate, intelligent and spectacularly verbal. Must move well. Seeking classically trained actress.

Nurse:

Female, mid 30s-40. Any ethnicity. Warm, sensual, bawdy, loving. Must move well. May possibly double as Phoebe/Audrey in As You Like It.

Lady Capulet:

Female, 25-32. Any ethnicity. Restless, yearning, damaged. May possibly double as Celia in As You Like It.

Mercutio:

Male, 25-35. Any ethnicity. Mercurial; edgy, appealing, complicated. Brilliant with language. Expert swordsman. May possibly double asOliver/Orlando in As You Like It.

Tybalt:

Male, 25-35. Any ethnicity. Aggressive, volatile, sexy. Expert swordsman. May possibly double as Oliver/Orlando in As You Like It.

Male, 25-35. Leading man, charismatic. Physically adept.

Jaques:

Male, 40-50. Melancholy poet and philosopher.

Oliver:

Male, 30-35. Older brother to Orlando; edgy, manipulative and conniving.

Celia:

Female, 25-32. Well bred; educated in manner and style. Rosalind’s cousin and close friend.

Duke Senior/Duke Frederick:

Male, 45-55. These roles will be played by the same actor. Duke Senior: Well-loved, authoritative, magnanimous, gentle in spirit. Duke Frederick: Brother to Duke Senior, usurper, schemer.
