Sides will be provided at the audition for the roles of LaTonya and Chee-Chee only. Actors wishing to be considered as possible (emergency) replacements for other roles should prepare a brief contemporary monologue.

Seeking:
LaTonya Mills:
AVAILABLE ROLE. African American, 24. Chee-Chee's abrasive mother. Round-da-way girl with slick weave and long nails. Attitude for days. Works at Duane Reade as a cashier.
Chee-Chee Bryant:
AVAILABLE ROLE. African American boy, 10. Is advanced in learning, but tries to hide it behind a tough “street” edge. Wears baggy hip-hop gear that's often falling off of his small frame.
The following roles are cast (i.e. offered and accepted). Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.
Anne Colleen Simpson (ACS):
CAST. African American, 40. Single, childless, overworked social worker on the brink of leaving the field. Conservative in style and mannerism.
Rashawn Lee:
CAST. African American woman, 21. Anne’s former client. Serving a maximum sentence for manslaughter. Young yet worn. Cynical, with a bravado about her. Always seen in cornrows and orange prison jumpsuit.
Twan Bryant:
CAST. African American, 26. Chee-Chee's father. Reformed hustler who found a new identity. Lives in Baltimore with his new wife and baby son.
