Breakdown
ROMEO AND JULIET: written by William Shakespear and directed by Tony Speciale, Associate Artistic Director at Classic Stage Company. Currently casting all roles; looking for actors with strong classical training and experience who have excellent physical skills, particularly with training in viewpoints. This is a modern adaptation. The younger generation roles will want actors who can play into their late teems. The "adult roles" will be from early 40-mid 50. Callbacks may be in mid-May.
DRACULA, adapted and directed by William McNulty, who also appears as Van Helsing. Looking for actors who play highly extended theatricality with honest truth. This production is extremely physical and requires actors with endurance, strength and combat skills. The roles of Harker and Van Helsing are cast.
RENFIELD: male early-mid 30s, must be extrmely imaginative and physically creative. This is a physically demanding role. He is an inmate in an asylum, under Dracula's control and terrified of what he knows is happening.
LUCY (female, mid to late 20s) as she falls prey to Dracula she transforms emotionally and physically from a frail Victorian ingenue to a demonic force; requires extended acting style without melodrama. Must be strong and agile as this is a physically demanding role; actress covers full range from sweet innocence to wildly sensual animal.
DR. SEWARD (male, early to mid 30s) the psychiatrist at a sanitorium outside of London whose beloved fiance Mina has died recently and now his dear friend Lucy has the same symptons. He is kind, intellectual, academic; caught between his heart and his mind as he faces the unthinkable. British accent.
DRACULA (male, late 30-early 50s) Able to disguise himself as a distinguished and charming old-world gentleman, Dracula is a savage, monstrous predator of women and children. He appears rigid, stiff, formal, fierce, with sense of preternatural strength. This Dracula is not a tragic romantic hero but a dark, dangerous, animal from the underworld. Please prepare with an eastern-European acccent.
