Seeking:

Pseudolus:

A slave desperate to be free. Sly. Clever. A actor/clown in the school of vaudeville / burlesque / Shakespearean / low comedy.

Hysterium:

A slave. Highly nervous and officious. A sycophant to his employers; an irritant to his charges.

Senex:

A wealthy Roman, around 50 years old, lecherous, intimidated by his domineering wife. Easily duped

Domina:

Wife to Senex. 50ish. Not attractive. Self-important tyrant of her household. Mezzo. Loud. Harridan.

Hero:

Son of Senex and Domina. 20ish. Sheltered. Good looking. Naïve. Neither bright nor savvy, but genuine. Bari/tenor

Philia:

Courtesan in the house of Lycus. 20ish. Lyric soprano. Dim-witted and a bit vague.

Miles Gloriosus:

A commanding General. Tall. Deep legit baritone. Pompous and conceited in the extreme.

Lycus:

Owner of the local brothel. Personality of an oily used car salesman. A little grand in his manner.

Erronius:

Elderly in the extreme (to the point of caricature). Senses failing. Infirm, but spry.

3 Proteans:

Play a variety of characters. Must move extremely well. Acro. Comedy. Highly physical roles

Runs: 2/23/12 - 3/18/12 (possible Extension to 3/25/12)

Harold Hill:

Mid 30s – 50. Attractive leading man. A charismatic con man with irrepressible charm and wit. Baritone.

Marian Paroo:

Mid 20s – late 30s. Attractive leading lady. A warm, strong willed and romantic woman. Beautiful Soprano.

Marcellus Washburn:

30 – 50. Comic sidekick. Positive, upbeat, and wanting to please. A vaudeville song and dance man. Strong singer/mover.

Mayor Shinn:

45 – 65. A comedic actor. A bumbling Mayor who uses his authority to gain respect.

Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn:

40 – 65. The Mayor’s wife. A quirky, comedic actress. A powerful woman who is easily distracted and warmed by compliments.

Mrs. Paroo:

45 – mid 50s. Marian and Winthrop’s mother. A warm and spunky Irish woman. Irish accent. Mezzo.

Tommy Djilas:

18. Handsome, slightly dangerous teen heartthrob. Good actor. Excellent dancer.

Zaneeta Shinn:

18. Mayor’s daughter. Attractive ingénue with a comedic sensibility. Love interest to Tommy. Good actress. Excellent dancer.

Charlie Cowell:

Mid 30s – 50. Traveling salesman. An opinionated, old school salesman out to squeal on Harold Hill.

Jacey Squires:

30s – 50s. Barbershop quartet. Character actor with excellent vocal skills. 1st Tenor.

Ewart Dunlop:

30s – 50s. Barbershop quartet. Character actor with excellent vocal skills. 2nd Tenor.

Oliver Hix:

30s – 50s. Barbershop quartet. Character actor with excellent vocal skills. Baritone.

Olin Brit:

30s – 50s. Barbershop quartet. Character actor with excellent vocal skills. Bass.

Alma Hix:

30s – 50s. Pick-a-little Lady. Character actress. Excellent singer/mover.

Age range 8-12. A shy and introverted boy who eventually finds joy by playing in the band. A slight lisp. Strong actor/ singer. Moves well. Small in stature

1st rehearsal: 1/12/12. Runs: 2/2/12 - 2/12/12 (possible extension till 2/19/12)

Seeking: Five vivacious performers with extensive range to include comic skills and strong dance and movement abilities. The show is most successful when the personalities complement each other and the quintet of exceptional performers, all consummate musical theater pros, can each hold an audience with star power. Seeking all ethnicities for all roles.

Woman 1 (Karen Ziemba Track):

To play 25-35, belt/mix, excellent tapper, featured dancer, sings “All That Jazz” “A Quiet Thing” and “Arthur in the Afternoon”

Woman 2 (Karen Mason Track):

To play 30-45, warm belt, good with comedy, sings “The Grass is Always Greener” and “Colored Lights”

Woman 3 (Brenda Pressley Track):

To Play 35-45, big power belt, sings “The World Goes Round”, “Maybe This Time”

Man 1 (Jim Walton Track):

To play 30-40, true song and dance man with excellent tap and comic skills, tenor, sings “Mr. Cellophane”, “Marry Me” and “Sara Lee”

Man 2 (Bob Cuccioli Track):

To Play 30-45, powerful baritone, confident with movement, leading man type, sings “Kiss of the Spiderwoman” and “I Don’t Remember You”
