Duke of Aumerle:
20s-30s – son of Edmund Duke of York, confidante to King Richard II, he is loyal to a point; simultaneously reckless and cautious, he is ruled by the heart more than the head.

50s-60s – brother of John of Gaunt and husband to Duchess of York, he has power but lacks influence; he is impetuous like his son Aumerle, though commendably anxious to do the right thing; passionate about defending the sovereignty and dignity of his country.
