World premiere. Play gives us insight into a Gujarati family whose patriarch, Dhiraj, manages a 7-Eleven®, and is desperately trying to succeed in America. Story spans from Rangoon, Burma to the American “Bible Belt”. The newly arrived Patel family must deal with the seductions of American life, while trying to keep their heritage alive. Play is funny and tragic— a quintessential 21st-Century American tale. The playwright states, “As a playwright, I strive to expose the injustices and inequalities of a world that too often fails to probe the shadowy corners where the truth resides, hidden away from those who need it by those who fear it.”
