Update, posted 12/6/10: Role of Mr Bennet, previously listed as available, is no longer sought. Role of Fitzwiliam Darcy is now available (and listed below, along with that of Mrs Bennet, which is also available).
Fitzwilliam Darcy:
Charismatic, tall, handsome, rich, of noble lineage. Commands authority. Appears aloof, arrogant and conceited, but is struggling with the fact that he is falling in love with someone who is of inferior breeding and class. Honest, shy, doesn't like to dance. Bewitched by Lizzie. Strong sense of responsibility and moral obligation to family and the community under his patronage. Saves Lizzie's family from social disgrace. Earnest, steadfast gaze. As a child, sweet-tempered and generous.
Mrs Bennet:
Mid 50s - mid 60's. Hysterical (partly through the disinterest that her husband has shown in the family or family affairs). Excitable, lacking in grace, emotional, takes to her bed when things become too much. Self-serving. Possesses a persecution complex, but would never acknowledge it. Of lesser breeding than Mr Bennet. Disappointed in her husband. Closest to the impetuous and self-obsessed Lydia. Tries to hide a middle-aged spread that cannot be disguised. Embarrassing, and often makes an exhibition of herself.
Theatre's statement: “CRT encourages actors of all races and ethnicities to audition.”
