In this brilliant adaptation of Ibsen’s famous play, 5 actors embark on a wild, hilarious, and surreal adventure. Based on a Norwegian folk tale with forty characters and five acts, Peer Gynt is one of Ibsen’s most influential and famous plays—although it is almost never staged. But now, world renowned director David Schweizer takes this “impossible to produce” play and turns it into a hilarious comic adventure that will delight audiences.
Central to this adaptation is the fact that only 5 actors take on all the roles and are constantly transforming themselves. The 3 male actors all portray Peer Gynt at different times and showcase the different aspects of his personality, thereby heightening the search for identity which lies at the root of this mythic piece of theater.
*SEEKING AN ETHNICALLY DIVERSE CAST. All actors must have a sense of humor, intelligence, an inventive spirit, spontaneity, and be able to create different characters.
