Seeking:
Trip Wyeth:
AVAILABLE. Early 30s. Lyman & Polly's youngest child. Successful TV producer. Attractive, playful, with a good sense of humor. Projects a sense of optimism and a desire to lead an emotionally uncomplicated life. A generation younger than Brook, his childhood with his parents was easier than Brook’s.
The following four roles are cast. Auditioning performers will be considered as Understudies and/or possible replacements, should any become necessary.
Lyman Wyeth:
Update, posted 9/15/10: Role is now CAST. Late 60s. Polly’s husband and Brooke and Trip’s father. Old-guard California Republican; political protégé of Ronald Reagan. Former actor turned politician; warm and charming man, attractive, smooth and self-confident. Holds true to his beliefs. Likes to see the good in people. Loves his family deeply, and has always been fiercely devoted to keeping them together.
Brooke Wyeth:
CAST. 40s. Once-promising novelist. Attractive, intelligent, dry, fiercely independent. Returns after an absence of six years to her parents’ Palm Springs, CA home for a Christmas visit. The years subsequent to her initial success have been marred by hardships: a failed marriage, writer’s block and a nervous breakdown. Now restored to good health and on a seemingly even keel, the ulterior motive for her visit is revealed when Brooke announces to her parents that her second book is about to be published.
Polly Wyeth:
CAST. 60s. Old-guard California Republican. Elegant, stylish, smart. Speaks frankly, and intimidates those who show any form of weakness or resistance to her way of doing things. Brilliant, with a sharp tongue; she can be very cutting. Fiercely committed to her beliefs, she greatly values the standing and reputation she and her husband have achieved politically and socially.
Silda Grauman:
CAST. 60s. Polly’s sister and former screenwriting partner. Recovering alcoholic who comes to terms with her disease using charm, sarcasm and a sharp sense of humor. She too speaks her mind, but is not as concerned as her sister is with making a good impression. After being released from her most recent stint in rehab, she comes to stay with Polly and Lyman until she’s able to get back on her feet.
