New comedy based on the website OldJewsTellingJokes.com. The show combines jokes, video, film footage, stories, music, live streaming and sketches, creating a world that proves “There’s a little Jew in all of us”. A cast of six actors gives a lightning history of comedy, from the Big Bang through the contemporary world of joke-telling, and on into the future. Every form of joke and joke-telling medium is covered, provoking every form of laughter from modest giggles to roars of total disbelief. The actors are supported by an inventive set employing the use of television, video, digital and green-screen techniques. Despite its laugh-inducing rhythms, at its core, the show has a heartwarming hilarity that explores how everyone gets through the tsuris of everyday life (even if they don’t know what tsuris means!). To enter the theater is to enter the world of “OJTJ”: pain… discrimination… war… sex… paper cuts… bunions and gas… everything that makes comedy worthwhile.
