Direct from Broadway, this daring and entertaining musical, directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, explores a fascinating chapter in American history with arresting originality.

Available Roles:
INTERLOCUTOR/JUDGE/GOVERNOR OF ALABAMA: White Male. 50s-60s Serves as a sort of Narrator/Lead Minstrel for the show taking on various parts in the story such as the JUDGE and GOVERNOR OF ALABAMA.
MR. BONES/SHERIFF BONES/LAWYER BONES/GUARD BONES/ATTORNEY GENERAL/CLERK: African American Male.30s-40s. Another narrator/minstrel of sorts for the show. Takes on various parts in the story such as SHERIFF, LAWYER, PRISON GUARD, ATTORNEY GENERAL, and CLERK.
MR. TAMBO/DEPUTY TAMBO/LAWYER TAMBO/ GUARD TAMBO/ SAMUEL LEIBOWITZ: African American Male. 30s-40s. Another narrator/minstrel of sorts for the show. Takes on various parts in the story such as DEPUTY/LAWYER/GUARD/ and SAMUEL LIEBOWITZ, a Jewish lawyer from New York who takes on the Scottsboro Boys case.
THE LADY: African American Female. 30s-40s. Subtly floats through the play until she is revealed as Rosa Parks in the final moments.
HAYWOOD PATTERSON: African American Male. Late teens-late 20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Possibly the strongest of the group. Learns to write while in jail and refuses to lie for his freedom.
OLEN MONTGOMERY: African American Male. Young teen-20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women.
ANDY WRIGHT: African American Male. Late teens-late 20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women.
ROY WRIGHT/ELECTRIFIED ISAAC/BILLY: African American Male. Late teens-20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Teaches Haywood Patterson how to write. Doubles as ELECTRIFIED ISAAC in the Electric Chair dance.
EUGENE WILLIAMS/LITTLE GEORGE: African American Male. Teens. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Doubles as LITTLE GEORGE, a young white boy outside the courthouse during the trial.
CLARENCE NORRIS/PREACHER: African American Male. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Doubles as PREACHER, who attends the boys as they are about to face the electric chair.
WILLIE ROBERSON/ELECTRIFIED CHARLIE: African American Male. Late teens-20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Doubles as ELECTRIFIED CHARLIE in the Electric Chair dance.
OZIE POWELL/RUBY BATES: African American Male. Late teens-20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Doubles as Ruby Bates, a white prostitute who accuses the boys of rape.
CHARLES WEEMS/VICTORIA PRICE: African American Male. Late teens-20s. One of the nine boys wrongly accused and incarcerated for raping two white women. Doubles as Ruby Bates, a white prostitute who accuses the boys of rape.
